After a superb year of standing for conservative principles, the Indiana General Assembly has risen to be among the top 10 conservative legislatures in the country, according to the American Conservative Union Foundation’s annual ratings of state legislatures.

House Republicans (79%) once again had more conservative voting records than their Republican colleagues in the Senate, supporting the conservative position on nearly eight of ten issues.

The state’s rating was helped in large part by Democrats in the state legislature who received an average score of forty-eight percent — significantly higher than where Democrats are scoring in other states.

The Wisconsin State Legislature last year had one of the largest partisan divides in the country, according to the American Conservative Union Foundation’s annual ratings of state legislatures.

In 2018, New Hampshire Republicans lost trifecta control of state government, with the Democrats flipping both chambers of the legislature and leading to a worse overall rating for the legislature as a whole.
