The American Conservative Union (ACU) is the original grassroots conservative organization in the nation. For more than fifty years, ACU has served as the umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. Its mission is to unite and mobilize conservatives around the basic tenets of conservatism. ACU seeks to educate citizens about conservative principles.

The Audio/Video Editor (A/V Editor) is responsible for manipulating the ACU’s video and audio assets in a manner which is consistent with the ACU’s brand in order to communicate its message in a meaningful and impactful way. The incumbent will work closely with other team members and departments to incorporate their Audio/Visual needs before making design decisions. This position requires creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to timeliness and deadlines.

This position is based in Alexandria, VA.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with ACU Leadership to develop and execute a strategy for the use of Audio and Video assets.

• Clean, mix, and cut sound clips to be used in various formats including but not limited to livestreams, ads, social media, website content, podcasts, etc.

• Cut and edit video to be used in various formats.

• When necessary, capture additional audio and video assets to complete a project.

• Ensure the correct formatting and presentation for finalized videos and sound clips.

• Maintain a library of all audio and video assets in an easily accessible format for future needs.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Keen attention to detail.

• Proficient with full Adobe Suite. Experience with Final Cut Pro preferred.

• Professional creativity.

• Proficiency working with audio and video equipment.

• Ability to work successfully individually or in a team environment, as well as to exercise sound professional judgment.

• Ability to handle and complete a variety of tasks simultaneously in an environment where interruptions are common.

• Comfortable with tight deadlines and quick turn arounds.

• Ability to work some nights and weekends.

Education & Training

• 2 years’ experience in a direct or relevant field.

• Political and public policy experience preferred.
