ACU
has asked elected officials and candidates for office around the country to sign a pledge to help America move toward energy independence.
For the first time in 25 years, the United States is in a position to lessen its dependence on foreign sources of oil and reduce the cost to the consumer of oil and natural gas. That is the result of the October 1 expiration of a nationwide ban on offshore oil drilling and the exploration and extraction of oil shale in the continental United States.
The Pledge Reads as Follows:
I, _________________________, PLEDGE TO THE CITIZENS OF ________________
AND TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT I WILL:
OPPOSE ANY AND ALL ATTEMPTS TO IMPOSE ANOTHER NATIONAL BAN ON THE DRILLING FOR OIL AND NATURAL GAS ENERGY RESOURCES OFF OUR NATION’S SHORES OR ON OIL SHALE EXTRACTION IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES; AND I WILL,
SUPPORT EFFORTS TO INCREASE DOMESTIC ENERGY PRODUCTION WHICH WILL PROVIDE FOR AMERICA’S FUTURE ENERGY NEEDS AND MAKE THE UNITED STATES LESS DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN SOURCES OF ENERGY.
