The American Conservative Union Unveils GOP Convention Push Including The Conservative Agenda for America's Future Platform Plan

Alexandria, VA—The American Conservative Union, the nation's largest conservative organization, whose ACUF foundation hosts CPAC annually and provides the annual conservative ratings of Congress, today is unveiling the ACU Convention Project aimed at ensuring the voices of conservatives are heard at the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis.

"For many weeks now we have been working quietly, behind the scenes, to gather the views of tens of thousands of conservatives from all over the country on what should be contained in the 2008 Republican National Convention Platform," said David A. Keene, Chairman of the ACU, "We are compiling these views and we look forward to presenting them in The Conservative Agenda for America's Future during Platform hearings next week."

The ACU Platform effort, which is being chaired by Congressman John Shadegg (R-AZ), has involved the gathering of opinions from tens of thousands of grassroots activists via telephone, in town hall meetings, through e-mail, mail and direct contact over the last several weeks.

"Through our surveys, discussions in town halls and in the many petitions we have recently released, conservatives from every walk of life throughout America have expressed their views," said Dennis E. Whitfield, Executive Vice President, "The ACU is looking forward to seeing the official draft of the RNC Platform next week and to presenting our blueprint in the same venue.  The Conservative Agenda for America's Future will be a definitive document of grassroots conservative views on the Platform."

The ACU Board and staff along with Congressman John Shadegg will be present as part of ACU's efforts on the platform in Minneapolis next week.

In addition to being active during the platform hearings, the American Conservative Union Foundation will be present throughout the GOP convention hosting nightly receptions.
The American Conservative Union Foundation, ACUF, is also the official sponsor of the post-convention gathering following the last speeches Thursday night where invited Delegates, VIPs and guests will gather in downtown Minneapolis for "A Tribute to the Reagan Revolution."
