Congressman Paul Ryan to Keynote 32nd Annual CPAC
Dedication
to conservative principle makes him easy choice to deliver "State
of the Movement" speech, says Keene
ALEXANDRIA, VA - The "State of the Movement" keynote address
at the 2005 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) will be delivered
by Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin on February 17, 2005 American Conservative
Union Chairman David A. Keene announced today.
"CPAC's
kickoff address in years past has been delivered by chairmen of the Republican
National Committee, Vice President Dick Cheney, and last year by Rep.
Mike Pence of Indiana, recently elected Chairman of the House Republican
Study Committee," said Keene. "We look to the keynote speaker
to exhibit those qualities that reflect resolute advocacy of traditional
conservative principles.
"In
six years of service, Congressman Paul Ryan never has shirked from articulating
or voting his conservative conscience. He has earned a reputation as a
dogged advocate of conservative Social Security reform and I know that
the relevance of his message will resonate with the more than 4,000 grassroots
activists expected to attend CPAC Feb. 17-19, 2005."
Rep. Ryan
and Sen. John Sununu of New Hampshire are the chief sponsors of a plan
to reform Social Security that would cover the entitlement's impending
shortfall by a combination of personal retirement accounts and a cap on
federal spending.
CPAC is a
project of the American Conservative Union Foundation, in association
with Young America's Foundation and Human Events. The conference is co-sponsored
by over 70 of the nation's leading conservative organizations. For continued
updates on the program or to register online, visit www.cpac.org.
"CPAC"
is not a "political action committee (PAC)" as defined by federal
law. The conference name and initials predate the creation of those entities
and is merely coincidental.
