National Communications Director

Kristy Campbell

Kristy Campbell serves as the Communications Director of the American Conservative Union (ACU), America’s oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization. ACU is the leading entity in providing conservative positions on issues to Congress, administration officials, state governments, the media, political candidates and the public. ACU also hosts CPAC – the Conservative Political Action Conference, the nation’s largest gathering of conservatives annually. In this role, Campbell oversees strategic communications for the organization and the organization’s marquee initiatives, leading aggressive, comprehensive traditional and new media advocacy efforts.

Campbell recently was Communications Director for former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum’s 2010 gubernatorial bid, serving as a senior advisor and playing a key leadership role in the campaign. Previously, Campbell was Press Secretary to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, serving as his chief spokeswoman and overseeing communications and public messaging in the Bush/Jennings Administration’s 18 state agencies. During the Administration, she also served as the Communications Director for the Florida Department of Community Affairs and as Press Secretary for the Florida Division of Emergency Management, managing the State Emergency Operations Center’s press office during the historic 2004 and 2005 Hurricane Seasons.

Following his tenure as Governor, Campbell served as the Communications Director for Governor Bush’s two nonprofit public policy organizations, the Foundation for Florida’s Future, a Florida-focused 501c4 group, and the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a national education reform advocacy group. Campbell developed and implemented integrative communications strategies for the Foundations’ initiatives, coalition-building and governmental and non-governmental advocacy activities.

Campbell also served as the Florida Communications Director for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign. Most recently, she served as a Senior Advisor to New Mexico Public Education Secretary-Designate Hanna Skandera, assisting in the development of Governor Susana Martinez’s (R – NM) inaugural education reform agenda.
